Single ServerAbsinthe Glass Verse-Eau (Brouilleur)
This single server water dripper (or brouilleur) is an exact reproduction of an original late 1900 century
Verse-Eau and was used to add water (and optional sugar) to ones absinthe.
Use consists of
first pouring one dose (typically 30ml) of absinthe into a glass and placing the Verse-Eau atop
the glass.
Because absinthe is better served cold, ice can be placed inside.
Sugar is optional and should be placed
inside the brouilleur before
the ice.
Water is then added, traditionally by either a carafe or absinthe fountain. The cold
water slowly pours through a small hole located at its bottom and streams into the glass of absinthe. If sugar is used,
the water is usually slowed until the sugar begins to dissolve.
While preparing your absinthe, the piece does not need to be completely filled.
It is advisable to add water in small
increments so the Verse-Eau can be easily removed to sample the mixture
. Remember, an absinthe is intended to be
made to the preparers own liking. Just as people have preferences as how they drink their coffee, absinthe should be
made to the drinker's own taste.
